Like the fashion industry, publishing has two seasons each year to “formally” announce forthcoming titles to trade librarians and booksellers. Spring and Fall lists typically revolve around a marketing and publicity blitz for the publishers’ lead titles. These include catalogues and other advance notification mailings, galleys to reviewers, planned marketing, and advertising strategies.

Trade journals normally devote prime editorial space to Seasonal Announcements as well. ForeWord showcases the offerings from the independent press community twice annually: in the March/April edition (Spring Announcements) and in the July/August edition (Fall Announcements).
